HOW I WORK
The way I work is: I start on the left side of the paper, draw an image from my imagination, then another, and another, etc. I never know where it’s going, what the images will look like, what colours and forms they will take, what it will develop into, or what the message is. I am working totally “in the dark”, and nothing is pre-planned or thought through beforehand. I am “working blind” and following my intuition and spiritual guidance. The guidance comes in many different ways; images come to me, a colour pencil dropping out of my hand when I am holding a few of them (this means “stop using this colour”), or pencils rolling off my work table and falling at my feet (this means “use these now”), or when I am in “stillness”, a new colour combination suddenly pops into my imagination that I have never drawn before.
It doesn’t come together quickly or easily. This is not quietly “being in flow”…… It’s the opposite - like travelling without a passport, you see new landscapes, but you don’t know how or when you will cross the border.
When I work, I am fully focused and in tune with the guidance that I am getting, which some call inspiration, and others call “flow.” It’s the unconscious “not knowing” that drives me, because I need to know how the story is going to end, what it will look like when it’s finished and what the message is.
